Shoe Categories
Running shoes are often grouped by the needs of the runner.  Below are shoe groupings and the needs they address.

Cushion
Shoes with cushioning as their primary function, work best for runners requiring flexibility and impact guidance. A rigid foot tends to need cushion.
Stability
Shoes with a combination of cushion and medially reinforced midsoles. For runners requiring mild to moderate pronation control. The Mobile foot type finds its support with this category.
Motion Control
Shoes with a solid base of support and medially reinforced midsoles. For runners requiring maximum pronation control. This is the category for the person with a hypermobile foot.
Performance
Light-weight, low profile shoes used for racing and for fast pace workouts. Best suited for runners that are light weight and without stability needs.
Trail
shoes designed with more durability and traction to be affective on inconsistant rocky or muddy terrain
